How to wash, dry and store your handloom sarees
Silk Sarees (Banarasi, Uppada, Mangalagiri Pattu)

Dry Clean Only
Always dry clean pure silk sarees. Home washing can damage the zari and weave structure irreversibly.

No Direct Sunlight
Store away from direct sunlight. UV rays cause silk to lose its sheen and colour within months.

Store in Muslin Cloth
Wrap in soft muslin or cotton cloth. Avoid plastic bags which trap moisture and cause mildew.

Neem Leaves for Zari
Place dried neem leaves or herbal sachets near zari sarees to protect from tarnishing and insects.

Gentle Hand Wash
Use cold water with mild detergent. Avoid wringing. Gently squeeze and rinse twice.

Hang in shade. Cotton sarees can bleed colour in the first 2–3 washes; wash separately.

How to Measure

Chest
Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping tape horizontal. Add 1–2 inches ease.
2️⃣
Back Width
Measure straight across the back between armholes, 4 inches below the neck.
3️⃣
Sleeve Length
From shoulder tip to desired sleeve end. 7–8 inches is standard cap sleeve.
